This and That in a Room

This and That in a Room

There are times when I step into a room in our home and realize that the things in that area have been placed there with purpose.

Some may call this feng shui.

Having things in order.

Meaning given to our home.

Yes, to all of it.

In our home, this brings a place of calm and refuge.  A place of retreat in a sometimes whirlwind of a world.

Do you feel that way in your home?

A place where you can do these two things with the folks and friends you cherish and treasure. Breathe in. Breathe out.  That is what to do in a day.

It is sometimes the only big thing I have done in a day.  Find my breath and find it again.

Find my breath

Some of the rooms in our home have a random eclectic feel yet bring a quirk of smile to my face as I find my breath.

Here is what you may find in one of the rooms.

There is a small dish with an initial of one in our family that has hearts, and now a couple green rocks from a young cousin, sitting on that dish.

This recent addition makes the joy pop as a discovery was found in our home that brought curiosity then connection to another family member.

Under that dish is the painting of a bursting dandelion that brings wishes for good things to the front of our minds every time.  Not only for our family but also to all who come to our home.

This painting was created by a friend who has a knack for creating joy in her journey as she is granting wishes to all who come into her realm.  One who can do this for others while you think you are there to create with her.

Abracadabra!

The frog

Look next at that frog on the floor looking ready to jump into action or is he ready to hang out for the day?  Both are up to be decided as the day progresses.

I found this frog at a gas station/boutique/sandwich shop along a quiet back road as I was traveling for my job a few years ago.

It seemed to stare me down as I walked up and down the aisles which is a sure indicator that I must buy it.

And I did! Truthfully, there was little resistance. Welcome to the collection, frog.

Around that corner of the room is also an empty pot.  Yet it once held a tall, exquisite plant gifted during a turbulent time.  What beauty can be given to remind us of what once will be again.

Aaaahhh. That green pot is not placed randomly.

It is also filled with balls to give an ever-present equal reminder of play and be in this moment with those around us.  Now.

The yellow vacuum

The next thing that draws me in is against that wall as a steady fixture in the room.  The yellow vacuum under the tall picture is at the place of being front and center to those who enter.  Ever at the ready to be useful.

Isn’t that where you have your vacuum?  No, probably not.

This placement has been there since before we can remember. Well, since before this home. Always to the right of where you sit in this room. I always remember.

Easy to access and see.

It was placed there by the Tall One and will perhaps always be there. Easy call for us.

Are there other things in this room that are not captured in this view? Of course.

Items such as ceramic birds that watch from above on a shelf, books and again more books, and then there are the photos that pull us into a pause.

Gratitude for the pause

Gratitude for the pause comes to me every time.

Photos that look deeply into my eyes.

Purpose given again.

What is in your home that has been placed with purpose?

Do you have small and large things around you that bring quirks of joy?

Do others know about them? Most of the time we hold them close.  Both are choices that are beautifully ours, my friends.

May your home have joy placed in them with purpose for all your people.
