Friends #47

Friends bouncing

Alright alright.

The last week of June is washing over me.

This month holds magic and marvelous moments.

They bounce around and then pour out every year. Sometimes the picture in my head looks like this.

Two friends speeding along behind a boat, holding hands and handles as they laugh with pure joy.

The freedom captured here is spectacular to me.

Laughing with heads back, full smiles and splashes of lake water all around.

There is no holding back as these two friends are going for it with the fun of this day.

Can you hear the laughter?

My heart. I can hear it with crystal clarity.

Here is a bit more about this picture.  Dallin, our son, is on the left and Brandon is on the right.

Best Friends

These two are like best friends.  They show how life is to be enjoyed with pureness and open hearts.

At times, they moved as if they were thinking the same.

Walking with the same stride.

Laughing at the same jokes.

Relaxing in the same style with hands behind the head and feet propped up on a table.

How many times have you seen friends like this?

Where it seems like two friends are forever tied?

These two are for one more reason.  Dallin is the son and Brandon is the dad.

There is a rhythm in the air with them.

Perhaps it can be tied to the dance parties that would spontaneously pop up every week.

Or what about the way they worked around the house and yard then played with hilarity?

A thousand moments

There was also a time for these two to become the best of friends as they shared a thousand moments every summer.

It seemed to be like The Sharing Song by Jack Johnson.

Dallin and Brandon loved to share everyday moments like watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn and reading books before going to bed.

They also shared a large order of French fries with dipping sauce and hamburgers cooked on the barbeque.

Swimming in the pool or wading into the lake to find the best stick to throw.

Bouncing behind a boat with grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.  The big family would jump to share this fun.

What more do friends do together?

More things that can be counted. And yet, count them we do.

Beyond the watching, bouncing and dipping

There are times when the counting continues beyond the watching, bouncing, and dipping.

Beyond the sharing.

This quote from Albert Einstein is often in my head

“Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted. “

M’hm. Y’all.

Even when I try to count the ways these two are the greatest view of best friends, there are more ways that I will never be able to capture in words or count them.

It has a vibe.  A sense of wellness. Cool moments that flow in and out of existence.

That may be the truth behind this moment.

Finding the rhythm

Finding the rhythm and flow of being best friends.

Love beyond words.

Joy with an open heart.

Wouldn’t that be the best place for each of us to be?

My friends.

Let us all be so grandly able to find this friend in our lives.  I can tell you I am thrilled to have it in mine.
