I Feel a Song Coming On #89

I Feel a Song Coming on Penguin

I Feel a Song Coming On

The time has come for a song.

There is a penguin in the movie Toy Story that introduces this perfectly when he says, “I feel a song coming on!”

In fact, there are many songs in my head this week that seem to be strumming and drumming with me.

A few of them are going to follow and have brought some good fun two steps with them.

Let’s start with this one!

Hello by Adele is one that pops into my head every once in a while. Do I know all the words? Not really, and yet I do think about where I am now.

It does feel like I am on the other side of some things occasionally.

Places I have been before and people I sat with once upon a time.

So, I say hello to my space and sometimes to myself in the mirror.

I added Oh hello. It’s you! It’s good to see you again.

Do you reach out with a hello at times and then get a hey back?

Now, that is the best!

Let’s do more!

Let’s do more of that!

What song is going to come on next?

One that Brandon shared with me is It’s a Beautiful Morning by The Rascals.

Get ready to tap a toe and sway with the easy Spring breeze as you listen or remember this one.

It seems the perfect time to have this song come on as the days are getting longer, the cold winter is winding down and the sunrise moments are here.

Somehow, when this song is shared I settle in and can take on more than I could before.

Isn’t that snazzy?

Delightful and powerful are more words that come to my mind.

I wonder how that works for me.

Here is what came after this week of wondering.

There have been times when I plow ahead on my own, kept going when I could have asked another nearby for some kind of help or even let that one person know what I need.

That one person is Brandon, and he is the one who knows when to share the music that keeps me going.

Who else is around when you may need to ask for help?

Maybe that is when to consider one more way to look at ways to create a beautiful morning.

One more song I feel coming on!

Now, for one more song that I feel coming on!

This one surprised me as it strummed in my memories.

It comes from a purple dinosaur and some kids that like to think about what could happen next.

I know! How is it possible that a song from Barney the dinosaur is still in my memory.

Just Imagine is one that came to me weeks ago and it actually took me until this week to place where I knew the lyrics from.

Then, it suddenly flowed through me again and I shuffled between a smile and shaking my head!

This song is one that I heard over and over again, for years, as our son would watch a purple dinosaur.

Sometimes this show on local PBS would bring a calm with laughter then I would remember why the silly songs and kids pretending to be something new each time was worth the time.

Imagining what our son could become, with him leading the way, found a way into our days.

Into our rhythm and way of life so when this song found its way back into my memory I smiled and sang the words in my way.

What songs have come to you?

Do they bring a memory or a goal to your mind?

I have a few new steps to consider with these three and many more songs drumming through my mind.

There is also a way that I look at the penguin as the one who introduced the song.

He is the one who grabbed the microphone and stood up to sing in Toy Story.

A penguin doing that may not have been expected and yet why not?

Penguins are resilient, made for thriving in tough situations and can waddle on when others may be done.

This example is what I am going to stick with this year, as well.

As the songs continue to come on I will look for ways to stay resilient, thrive with what comes next and continue to waddle on, my friends.

Join me in this year of music and penguins. I am here to do it sitting with others, and with all of you!
