Stay Centered #90

Stay Centered

Stay Centered

This is the month that brings flowers after showers.

Bright days with higher temperatures and bright colors all around.

There is also a surprise or two that seem to pop up with the daisies and tulips and the reason I find ways to stay centered.

Recently I was reminded why I have been doing yoga to become mindful as this happened at the end of my day.

I came home from work and checked the mail to find a catalog full of books and Knick knacks targeted for women.

Page after page of happy smiling faces in the same bright colors were beaming up at me.

I flipped through one then three pages then looked up at Brandon and said What’s up with all this stuff for women?

He grinned and waited for the answer to come to me.

It’s May so the answer did come.

I realized that Mother’s Day is around the corner in this part of the world.

I found my center.

Lands.

I paused, found my center and wished all the moms in my world the best from a distance and then set the catalog in the recycle bin with a flare and spin.

Did you just smile with me? Lovely.

It seemed I no longer found the products in that realm interesting or needed.

I posed this question to myself.

What happens when a date like this seems to sneak up yet is known to so many?

It could be one day that rallies a group together and yet can also bring a variety of feelings, emotions and grooves.

Like me dropping that catalog into a bin.

For me it has come to mean a few things in these past years.

Perhaps time changes the way a holiday, such as Mother’s Day, means at different times for a few.

This has been the way for me.

This has been the way for me.

Before, this day was easy and calm while we all read the Sunday newspaper.

Suddenly the person who loved the paper was no longer with us and I was still looking for ways to be easy and calm.

Staying centered and being mindful has become the name of the game, even as I use my granny hanky as needed. .

This is the way the holiday looks now.

There is one more piece, like the second part of the game, for me now.

It goes with the bright colors of this time of year.

Sometimes it is as if I am this flower, growing again and again from the inside out.

We love this plant and you will find many more like it in our yard.

This plant does this over and over all season long from spring to fall.

The same plant comes up even after the winter is long and cold and feels like it will never end.

Yet it does, every year, like a small miracle of hope for the future on sweet sunshine filled days.

Small leaves turn into spikes of flowers and then grow into more blooms.

Every bloom continues until the center is strong.

Can I tell you what happens next?

Oh yeah, you know I’m going to!

This blooming beauty sends out more plants to share its center.

I think that is what happened when I now send out the good vibes to other women in my world as I learn to come into my space with this holiday.

Send out wishes for joy in their world, for love in the space that is coming to each of the incredible women and moms that I know and yes, to have them find the spaces of joy in their own realms.

Finding my center is where I can be with you as I find it for myself, again and again.

Let’s be here together and share the blooming colors with the next woman, my friends.

That’s a way to do it today.

Every woman is a mother and has a mother. We nurture and guide so many in our lives….we all should celebrate the uniqueness of our presence. The Lord gave us special attributes that make women “mothers”. I celebrate my mother, my mother-in-law, my sisters, my friends, my nieces, my cousins and every woman that walks in my circle. We are all actively “mothering” no matter where we are in our lives and sphere. What a wonderful thing it is to be a woman (mother). Love you, for mothering and caring in so many ways for so many people. Keep doing what you truly do best.
