Make Something New Again #95

Make Something New Agan

Make Something New Again

There is a time when I like to start creating. Truthfully, when I like to be creative with others.

I saw this display some time ago. It amazes me about what can be done to make something new again.

Look a bit closer as to what is included to bring color and texture to our attention.

Do you see the large red circles? They are created by recycled kitchen glassware.

In fact, each piece is an upcycled item that could have been used in someone’s kitchen many years ago.

How did someone imagine this when they wanted to make something new again?

I will tell you that I walked through the display for more than 15 minutes as I watched the light bounce and create more prisms on the next wall.

A room made of these windows was being seen in my mind for a future at my house!

Could I do something like this? My thoughts were open to the possibility.

As I stood in a space of rainbows, I remembered where I first thought of such a room.

The ending chapter gave a hint.

When I was 10 years old, I was given a book from my grandma for my birthday. The ending chapter gave a hint as to what was possible, and it included a room made of windows.

I have drawn such a room in my mind since then and suddenly I was seeing what more could be added with windows such as these.

Ones made of circles and squares from recycled glass.

The memory of that book also gives me the memory of more books that I have read.

Yes, some have come as gifts, like from my grandma. Others have come from bookmobiles that felt like I was able to Follow the Yellow Brick Road to find a treasure and my way to more adventure.

Did you have a bookmobile to explore when you were growing up?

They still have them in some parts of my state, and it is a marvelous way to find a room made of windows to make something new again.

Another way to make something new again.

There is another way to learn about making something new again. It goes along with how this window was created.

Do you remember using the extra things around to make art when you were a kid or with your kids?

I often did this with our son when we could cut or tear things out of a magazine or use what we found on a walk to make a big collage on a poster board.

This could be creating recycled art like what is talked about in this information

Some artists I know can create a quilt or other designs from upcycled clothing, using almost every yard of fabric, to make something new again.

Stacks of t-shirts create a beloved blanket.

Worn out jeans become the heavy winter quilt to pull over your shoulder.

Grandpa’s ties are stretched open and create trees in a forest in that new pattern.

An aunt’s most beloved holiday blanket becomes a full-length jacket.

Can you see the possibilities?

Can you see the possibilities?

This is when I like to see what others can imagine. That realm of creativity is awe-some and brings joy to more faces and places.

My memory now goes back to the light that caught these red, green and yellow round glass containers the day I watched for many minutes.

Suddenly, I also saw these small pieces as whole containers. Each one then held tasty treats or good memory food such as dinner rolls and snap beans with melted butter or vinegar drizzled over each dish.

Can you imagine it with me?

I thought of those that I knew who held those sweet dishes and paused with joy and gratitude.

Perhaps, that is why I stood there and let the rainbows fall all around me that day.

I also found that I continue to ask what I want to make something new again.

What will that be? Come see with me.

Beautifully said….I too have those moments when I want to create. Just seeing colors in the yard makes me want to blend them and bring them all together in their own wonderful creation. The curves in the birds feathers makes me want to put the feeling on paper with pencil and pen. It is a daily thing in my world. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly! Blending to create something new. I think we can do this again and again with what is around us.
Let’s keep doing this in our spaces, my friend.
