Powerful Colors #111

Superpower Suit

Powerful Colors

I was able to present with a new colleague across the state a few months ago.

The first time we met at the conference center to begin our presentation we took a step back to consider what we were wearing.

She was in a bright pink jacket with a fantastic flowing skirt.

As we set up for the first session of our day, she commented on how pink was one of her most powerful colors.

One that brings her strength and fun energy when the day is packed.

It turns out that one of my most powerful colors is black and brings me the same energy.

How is that possible?

Two different colors yet they bring out similar reactions in the two of us.

My choice of powerful colors brings a sense of calm.

I found that my choice of powerful colors also brings me a sense of calm when I wear it as I present and go about my days.

Black is also something that brings a moment of being in my super suit at times.

How fun is that?

Do you remember a time when you put on a favorite color, and you suddenly felt like you could take on any situation?

Perhaps your color is blue,

Or yellow,

Orange,

Maybe purple.

Each one of us has a color that brings this feeling up.

That is what I feel like when I am in super suit mode.

Here is what happened one time when I was presenting and needed to field questions afterward.

There were some questions being asked from the group. As one question was answered it brought in another and then another question.

It was as if my choice of powerful colors that I was wearing needed to have something added for me to be able to stay on track.

Can you imagine what I did next?

My next favorite color.

I pulled out my next favorite color! Are you ready for what it is?

You bet!

It is a bright and awesome color pink.

Finding this could be a surprise as it was for me in the beginning.

Powerful colors come in all shades and may be what you have on right now.

Did you know that this is a part of what you could have in your closet?

Let’s take a look at what some colors could mean.

It turns out that pink really can bring a sense of good things by showing respect, gratitude and creativity.

Those are important things when presenting, don’t you think?

Yes, and so did my colleague every time!

Now, let me go back to when I added this powerful color to my favorite color, black.

When I added pink to black on the day that the questions came in a steady flow it seemed that the calm stayed in place. I was able to find resources, support and make follow up appointments when needed.

Black can feel like there is a sense of security in space. For me, it feels like I can pay attention to what is happening around me and not what I am wearing.

It is not about me but about those I am in the room with that become the important piece.

This choice of powerful colors brings me focus.

For me, this choice of powerful colors brings me focus.

I will tell you one more thing, my friends.

It is not actually about the color I wear.

The strength, the power, I find comes from the mindfulness I bring with me. The sense of knowing who I am, where I have come from and what information I bring with me.

How’s that for creating fantastic power?

Somehow this is what brought more powerful colors to me.

It is about doing what is needed, in any situation. That is where the actual joy and power can be found.

Think about the colors that you are wearing and what they can mean for you.

Powerful colors, hmmm a good question. I know I love yellow, not a lot of people do. I think it is sunshine, beginnings, and the happy it represents. It is the source of growth and warmth. I find my power in yellow. Thanks for letting me ponder that question. You are the best.
