Get Curious #171
Get Curious
It seems the time has come to look around and wonder what has happened this year.
The wonderment with it also means that I allow myself to sit in a few spaces to do these things.
There are four of them that I sat with this year that I’d like to review.
Let’s start with a few of my favorite feelings as we look up together.
I like to get curious about each of these.
I like to get curious about each of these that include enthusiasm, being awe-struck, regretful and perplexed.
Do one of these stand out to you?
There are so many feelings to think about so there may be another that comes to the top for you.
Enthusiasm came to me when I was a young mom watching our son learn to walk again then use sign language to let us know he wanted a cracker, which movie he loved and to tell a joke.
Being awe-struck was next as the sky lit up with fireworks then as that same sky was filled with more stars that could be counted near mountains that I love.
Awesome moments have come when family and friends filled my space in this past year.
It all came together as I remembered to sit with what came next.
Sometimes there are words that can be said about these feelings.
Then there are times when I was able to sit with someone to hear what they may be feeling.
Getting curious and being still while sitting with someone.
Getting curious and being still while sitting with someone was one of the things that I looked back on recently.
What a powerful set of moments it is to be still, be in the presence of another and know that whatever needs to be said, can be said.
Think of a time this was true for you.
It could be when you were in elementary school and had a first set of friends.
Perhaps it was when you were on your own as a young adult or knew that what came next in your life was up to you.
Get curious with yourself for a few minutes.
Now, here is what to do next.
Think about who you would sit with and what you would talk about.
That, my friends, could be grand for both you and me.
This is where my next realm comes into play.
It is one that lives with me and has taught me much this year, and for many years.
As you go into this space, remember to stay curious with what you would hear.
Listen to that within yourself and then think about one thing you would share with the next person in your life.
Then there is this piece that goes back to my favorite feelings.
Remember that every feeling is here to tell us or teach us something. While there are things I regret and continue to be perplexed about I know that I can continue.
Doing these things and more in the coming days.
Ready to look up as the sun pops up.
Even if I need to look through the bare trees for the orange and pink streaking across the sky.
Get curious about sitting with someone next to you while listening to what is said.
I’m here for it with you!
Love it!! You are my hero…keep sharing and believing.
You are one I love to stand with and get curious about what we can do next, my friend!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, mom!
